We are in Spain. Life is good here. The sun is shining, a breeze is blowing, adults are eating tapas and drinking sangria and kids are splashing in the pool and prancing around in flamenco dresses. Brett and I have exchanged numerous knowing glances. The kind of glances that say, “Here we are. We did it.” You know those late-night conversations between husband and wife, when logical planning turns into, what some might consider, illogical dreaming? Well, this was one of ours – moving to Europe and spending as much time as possible on the Mediterranean. Granted, we moved to Copenhagen, a city about as far from the Mediterranean as possible, but hey, we were here in a few hours, without jet-lag to deal with, so mission accomplished!

There is no denying, we love Spain. We have a history with this country that involves my study abroad program in college, a romantic 3-day weekend in Madrid and 2 months of backpacking on the Iberic Peninsula – all pre-kids. When you love something, naturally you want to share it with your kids, so we knew we would bring them here one day. Spain has a lot to offer for families…more than we even realized! Brett and I love the winding streets of the big Spanish cities and small dusty hill towns, the girls love the wide open plazas and splashing fountains. We spent the first 3 days in the white-washed hill towns of Ronda and Grazalema, both places Brett and I have visited before and loved. As usual, they took on a whole new (yet equally wonderful) appearance, as we experienced them through the eyes of our kids.

We have now moved to a resort along the Costa del Sol, where we have been basing ourselves for some day trips, including the Feria de Fuengirola! Stay tuned for Spain Part II Coming Soon. In the meantime, we’ll be here:
